PlaceMate is in the early stages of establishing an organization and operating system to enable coherent decentralized development. This initiative is designed to seed a field of loosely connected, interchangeable activity without barriers or boundaries, while maintaining useful shared frameworks, infrastructure, and identity.

This means of functionally driven self-organization is based on precedents of Platform Cooperativism and Open Value Network with some inspirations from Guild format and academia.

Organizations are essentially defined by what they claim to be\do\own; and how these things are shared or governed. In this context, the shared assets maintained in a 'commons' at the heart of PlaceMate covers just a few key elements:

1. Identity; including vision, principles, branding, public relations & comm's
2. Leadership; stable representative roles and accountabilities
3. Infrastructure; communication, application, production
4. Information; data, knowledge, documentation
